Wufeng Lin Family Mansion and Garden, Traditional Chinese mansion in Wufeng District, Taichung, Taiwan
Wufeng Lin Family Mansion and Garden is a historic site and country-level monument in Wufeng District, Taichung, Taiwan. The complex consists of two main residential areas with multiple courtyards, living quarters, and a garden section featuring ponds, bridges, and pavilions.
The residence was built starting in 1864 during the Qing period for the Lin family, who held economic and social influence in the region. Additional buildings and the garden were developed later, with many structures added in the late 1800s.
The Great Flower Hall contains a ceremonial space and theater stage where traditional performances and social gatherings regularly occurred for community members.
The grounds are open daily and visits typically follow a guided route through the buildings and outdoor areas. Allow enough time to walk through the compound, as the site covers a large area.
One of the halls served as a private school and displays architectural details similar to those found in Confucian temples. The red bricks for this building were produced on site in a kiln in 1887.
