The Battle of Shrewsbury was a conflict between King Henry IV and a rebel army led by Henry 'Hotspur' Percy.
Fought on 21 July 1403, it was one of the early battles of the Hundred Years' War.
The battle was immortalized in William Shakespeare's play 'Henry IV, Part 1'.
The battlefield is protected as a Registered Battlefield.
It marked the first time that English archers fought each other on English soil.
