Adventure Island

Adventure Island sits along the waterfront and offers roller coasters, carousels, and rides for children and adults. The attractions spread across several zones along the promenade, where visitors can choose between gentler options and faster rides.

The park opened in 1976 and brought motorized rides to the Essex coast. Over the following decades, management expanded the grounds with new roller coasters and family attractions.

The park incorporates maritime themes throughout its design, reflecting the coastal heritage of Southend-on-Sea through its attractions and decorative elements.

Visitors can enter the grounds without paying admission and pay only for individual rides they want to use. Annual passes allow unlimited use of all attractions, and adults ride free when accompanying children under 120 centimeters (about 4 feet) tall.

The grounds allow free access to the entire area, so visitors can stroll between rides and enjoy the atmosphere without paying anything. This arrangement sets the park apart from most other facilities of its kind in Britain.
