Devil's Gap Battery, Coastal artillery battery on the Upper Rock Nature Reserve, Gibraltar.
The Devil's Gap Battery stands at 130 meters above sea level, featuring two BL 6-inch Mark VII naval guns overlooking the Bay of Gibraltar.
The battery served as a strategic defense point during World War II and successfully sank a German submarine near Algeciras in August 1917.
The site represents British military engineering and defense strategies, maintained by volunteers through the Gibraltar Heritage Trust Act of 1989.
Visitors can explore the underground complex beneath the guns, which contains storage areas, ammunition magazines, and shell hoisting mechanisms.
The battery maintained its original 6-inch guns from 1902 until 1954, marking over five decades of continuous military preparedness at this location.
