Brunel University London, Research university in Uxbridge, United Kingdom
Brunel University London is a research university in the western part of London, located in the Borough of Hillingdon. The grounds include teaching buildings, laboratories, residence halls and green spaces that extend across a connected campus.
The institution received its university status through a royal charter in 1966 and bears the name of engineer Isambard Kingdom Brunel. It evolved from a technical college previously based in Acton.
Students from different parts of the world meet in common rooms, libraries and sports facilities spread across the grounds. In the residence halls and cafés you hear many languages, and cultural events take place throughout the year.
The campus lies roughly 45 minutes from central London and is well connected by underground rail. International students can be accommodated in residence halls on the grounds, so all facilities are within walking distance.
The university conducts research in the medical field, including work on producing blood stem cells for transplants. These projects take place in specialized laboratories that can sometimes be visited during guided tours.
