Delyn, Parliamentary constituency in the United Kingdom, 1983 onwards
Delyn is a House of Commons constituency in northern Flintshire, Wales, covering towns like Mold, Flint, and Holywell. The region consists of smaller towns and villages with a mix of modern housing, older residential buildings, and historic industrial structures that reflect its past.
Delyn was created in 1983 from parts of the older Flintshire West and Flintshire East constituencies and served as a voting area for over 40 years. Conservative candidates won initially in the 1980s, but from 1992 onwards, voters supported Labour representatives across successive elections.
The name Delyn reflects the Welsh heritage of this region in North Wales. Small towns like Mold, Flint, and Holywell host local markets and festivals where residents gather to celebrate traditions and connect with their community roots.
The region is connected by buses and trains to larger towns and neighboring areas, making it easy to explore by public transport. The flat to gently rolling landscape allows for easy walking and cycling through the towns and surrounding villages.
The area was dissolved as a constituency before 2024 and redrawn into new districts, marking the end of an electoral era for voters. Some old factory buildings are now being converted into cultural centers and community halls, showing a shift toward new purposes.
