Loch Maree

Loch Maree is a large freshwater lake in the Scottish Highlands known for its island-dotted waters and dramatic setting. The loch sits surrounded by wooded slopes and mountains that rise steeply from the shoreline.

One of the islands in the loch contains its own freshwater lake with a tiny island inside it – an unusual geographical feature. This nested arrangement of water bodies is exceptionally rare in Great Britain.
