The remains of Grace Dieu Abbey lie on the east side of the River Trothy, surrounded by agricultural fields in the Monmouthshire countryside.
Founded in 1226 by John of Monmouth as the last Cistercian establishment in Wales, the abbey relocated after Welsh attacks in 1233 destroyed its initial structures.
The monastery maintained connections with its mother house, Dore Abbey in Herefordshire, and received support from King Henry III through grants of timber resources.
Located at coordinates 51.828056, -2.804167, the archaeological site stands approximately 2 miles north of Dingestow village in southeastern Wales.
Despite its protected status as a scheduled monument since 1963, no visible structures remain above ground at the former religious settlement.
