St Bridget's Kirk, Dalgety Bay, Medieval church ruins in Dalgety Bay, Scotland

The rectangular stone structure of St Bridget's Kirk stands near the shoreline of the Firth of Forth, featuring three distinct burial aisles and ancient stone walls.

The church, first mentioned in 1178, served as a parish church under Inchcolm Abbey management until structural issues led to its abandonment in 1830.

The building reflects the transition from Catholic to Protestant worship through architectural modifications made in the seventeenth century to accommodate new religious practices.

Visitors can access the church ruins daily without charge, while the historical Inglis Aisle section remains open exclusively during weekends.

A watchtower integrated into the churchyard wall served as a guard post against body snatchers who attempted to steal corpses for medical research.
