Jamestown Viaduct, Railway viaduct in Inverkeithing, Scotland.

Jamestown Viaduct is a railway bridge in Inverkeithing that carries four steel girder spans resting on three sandstone piers with stone arches at each end. The structure combines steel beams with traditional masonry and crosses the valley at an angled orientation.

The bridge was constructed between 1887 and 1890 as part of the northern approach to the Forth Bridge. The project followed the completion of the larger Forth Bridge and linked existing rail lines between Edinburgh and Aberdeen.

The Category B listed structure represents Victorian engineering excellence through its combination of steel and masonry construction techniques.

The viaduct carries daily train services between Edinburgh and Aberdeen, visible from the road below. The best viewpoint is from the nearby valley where you can see the angled structure and construction details up close.

The bridge was built at an unusual angle of about 70 degrees across the valley to overcome the terrain. This skewed orientation required special construction with non-continuous truss girders, showing a rare example of Victorian engineering solutions.
