Murrayfield Ice Rink

Murrayfield Ice Rink is an indoor ice arena built with Olympic-standard dimensions and seats around 3,800 spectators. The facility includes separate areas for ice hockey and figure skating along with several curling sheets.

The building was constructed in the 1930s and served as a storage facility during World War II before becoming an ice rink in 1952. This transformation shows how the site shifted between different purposes over time.

The rink has been home to ice hockey teams for many years and draws crowds who come to watch matches and training sessions. A multi-sheet curling facility here has become an important venue for this traditional sport.

The building was recognized as a Category B listed structure by Historic Environment Scotland in 2013, mainly because of its 1930s Art Deco entrance. This architectural detail remains one of the most striking features and shows the original design intent.
