One Aldwych, Grade II listed luxury hotel in City of Westminster, England.
One Aldwych is a five-star hotel in the City of Westminster, occupying a Grade II listed triangular building at the corner of Aldwych and Wellington Street, topped with a copper dome. The hotel has 105 rooms furnished with natural silk and decorated with contemporary artworks.
The building was designed by architects Mewès and Davis and completed around 1910, originally serving as the headquarters of the Morning Post newspaper. After the newspaper moved out in 1937, the structure stood through various uses before being converted into a hotel.
Throughout the interior, artworks hang in corridors and public spaces where guests pass through naturally during their stay. Walking through the lobby or along the hallways feels more like moving through a gallery than through a conventional hotel.
The hotel stands at a central junction with easy walking access to Covent Garden theaters and the London Transport Museum. The surrounding streets are well connected by public transport, making it a convenient base for exploring the city.
The hotel has a swimming pool that uses no chlorine, which is very rare among London luxury hotels. It also serves an afternoon tea inspired by Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, with dishes that refer directly to scenes from the book.
