Broch of Culswick, Iron Age defensive structure in Sandsting, Shetland Islands, United Kingdom.
The Broch of Culswick stands 3 meters high with an external diameter of 16 meters, featuring three intramural galleries and a triangular lintel entrance.
The structure remained substantially intact until 1805, as documented in drawings by George Low and Skene, showing the original three-story defensive tower.
The broch represents Iron Age engineering methods, with its double-walled circular design and internal chambers demonstrating advanced construction techniques of ancient Scottish builders.
Visitors can reach the archaeological site by following a track from Culswick hamlet, passing Loch of Sotersta before ascending the final steep section.
From its position on a coastal knoll, the broch provides clear views of Foula, Vaila isles, Fitful Head, and Fair Isle across the surrounding waters.
