Drumlanrig Castle, Renaissance castle in Dumfries and Galloway, Scotland.

The pink sandstone structure stands with 120 rooms, 17 turrets, and four towers within the expansive Queensberry Estate overlooking Nith Valley.

The first Duke of Queensberry, William Douglas, constructed this Renaissance residence between 1679 and 1689 on the location of an earlier Douglas stronghold.

The castle holds an art collection including Rembrandt's An Old Woman Reading and housed Leonardo da Vinci's Madonna of the Yarnwinder until 2003.

Visitors access marked walking trails, mountain bike paths, an adventure playground, and refreshments at the Larchwood Cabin Cafe within the estate grounds.

Aerial photography in 1984 revealed a substantial Roman fort located 350 yards southeast of the castle, later excavated by Time Team in 2004.
