Beinn Chorranach, Mountain summit in Arrochar Alps, Scotland.
Beinn Chorranach is an 888 meter summit located between Loch Fyne and Loch Lomond in the Arrochar Alps. The mountain has steep slopes crossed by several hiking routes across its terrain.
The mountain stands near Butterbridge, a structure built before 1768 as part of a military road network. This system connected Inveraray with Glasgow through Highland regions.
This peak belongs to the Arrochar Alps, a range that serves as a gateway to the Scottish Highlands and marks where the landscape transitions toward wilder mountain terrain.
The hike begins at Butterbridge car park and follows a northwestern path toward Abyssinia cottage. From there, the route crosses Kinglas Water before reaching the mountain ridge.
From the summit, visitors can see two major bodies of water in a single view: Loch Fyne, Scotland's largest sea loch, and Loch Lomond, the country's largest freshwater lake. This rare viewpoint reveals the contrasting character of both water bodies.
