The name translates from Scottish Gaelic as 'the fiddler's peak', reflecting the local linguistic heritage and traditional naming practices of Scottish mountains.

Access to the mountain begins at the Butter Bridge car park, with multiple routes available including a direct steep ascent and gentler paths from Glen Kinglas.

The mountain's higher eastern summit carries the name Stob Coire Creagach while Binnein an Fhidhleir refers specifically to the western peak of the formation.
