Titanic Engineers' Memorial, Bronze and granite memorial in East Park, Southampton, England
The Titanic Engineers' Memorial is a bronze and granite monument in East Park, Southampton, England. A figure of the Greek goddess Nike stands atop the structure, while bronze reliefs and inscriptions at the base honor the ship's engineering crew.
The monument was unveiled in 1914, two years after the sinking. Sir Archibald Denny of the Institute of Marine Engineers presided over the ceremony, which drew around 100,000 attendees.
The memorial stands as a testament to the maritime legacy of Southampton and represents the sacrifices made by 33 engineering personnel aboard the ship.
The structure is located in East Park and accessible via paved paths suitable for wheelchairs. The park remains open during daylight hours throughout the year and offers a quiet setting for reflection.
A verse from the Gospel of John chapter 15, verse 13, is engraved on the structure. The names of all 33 engineers who stayed at their posts during the sinking appear on the base panels.
