De Beauvoir Town, Residential district in North London, England.

De Beauvoir Town is a residential area in North London that stretches across the Hackney and Islington boroughs and is known for its geometric street layout. The neighborhood features a mix of Victorian villas, modern residential buildings, and green tree-lined streets set between Kingsland Road and Southgate Road.

Development of the neighborhood began in 1821 when William Rhodes obtained a lease for extensive land following the construction of the Regent's Canal in the area. This early planning led to systematic settlement of the region as an attractive residential quarter in the following decades.

The area is named after a local family from the 18th century and was designed as an elegant residential quarter. Walking through its streets reveals well-maintained Victorian houses and contemporary additions that shape it as a place for living and community.

The neighborhood is well connected to central London through several transportation options, including the nearby stations Dalston Kingsland, Angel, Old Street, and Highbury & Islington. The best way to explore it is on foot, discovering quiet streets and local shops along main thoroughfares like Englefield Road and Southgate Road.

William Lyttle, known as the Mole Man, spent 40 years digging an extensive tunnel network beneath his De Beauvoir Town property. His unusual project was discovered only when authorities had to intervene, leaving a remarkable trace in the neighborhood's local history.
