The Spalding family built this tower house in 1583 and held it for several generations as their family seat in Perth and Kinross. It is one of the few tower houses from that period in the region that has survived largely in its original form.
One room inside carries the name of Rob Roy MacGregor, pointing to visits made by this celebrated Scottish folk figure to the Spalding family who once lived here. The name has stayed with the room ever since, making it a small but tangible reminder of that connection.
