Acorn Bank Garden & Watermill, Historic house and watermill in Temple Sowerby, England
The garden contains over 250 medicinal and culinary herbs, surrounded by high stone walls and ancient oak trees throughout the 180-acre property.
The watermill, documented since 1323 under the Order of Knights Hospitaller ownership, later powered local gypsum mines during the 19th century.
The largest collection of cooking and medicinal herbs within National Trust properties demonstrates traditional British gardening and herbal medicine practices.
Visitors can access walking trails connecting Acorn Bank to Temple Sowerby, covering 3.2 miles through woodland paths and along Crowdundle Beck.
The mill incorporates an intricate system of water channels carved into the hillside, directing water flow to power the restored 19th-century machinery.
