Altolusso

Altolusso is a residential tower in Cardiff's city center with a distinctive Y-shaped design housing 292 apartments across 23 floors. The structure rises about 72 meters and includes four elevators serving the building, with the Victorian-style New College facade preserved at its base.

The site previously housed the Cardiff Gas Light and Coke Company facilities, which operated there from 1837 until the early 2000s. The residential tower was built after these industrial operations ended, marking a transformation of the location from industrial to residential use.

The building preserves the historic New College facade at street level, creating a visual connection between old and new architecture in the city center. This blend shapes how people experience the transition from Victorian-era design to contemporary residential spaces.

The tower sits in a central location near Cardiff's main shopping districts and public transportation hubs, making it easy to access from different parts of the city. As a residential building, public access is limited to communal areas visible from the street.

The building served as a filming location for the television series Torchwood, with scenes shot on its rooftop. The high vantage point provided views across the Welsh capital during production.
