Baker Street Mill, Historical smock mill in Orsett, England
Baker Street Mill stands with an octagonal two-story brick base measuring 20 feet across, featuring four double patent sails and a Kentish-style cap.
Built in 1765, the mill operated on wind power until 1914, when a steam mill was established nearby with a new boiler installation in 1906.
The structure represents traditional English milling practices, with three pairs of overdriven stones placed on the third floor for grain processing.
The mill functions partly as residential accommodation since 1982, following extensive restoration work that included new cap and sail installations.
Two inscriptions found within the mill show the initials RB dated 1814 and SS dated 1762, suggesting multiple structural modifications during these periods.
