Bakers Pit is a limestone cave system in Buckfastleigh containing more than 3 kilometers of explored passages with natural rock formations. A small stream runs through the passages and eventually flows toward the River Dart.
The cave was discovered in 1847 during quarrying operations and contains evidence of human occupation dating to the Stone Age. Studies of the site revealed important details about early human use of caves.
