Benacre Hall, Grade II listed country house in Benacre, England

Benacre Hall is a country house built in 1764 that displays Georgian design principles with Palladian influences throughout its spacious rooms. The main saloon faces south and serves as the centerpiece of the residence's formal living areas.

This mansion was constructed in 1764 following designs by architect Brettingham for the Gooch family. The house has remained with the family since Sir Thomas Gooch acquired the estate in 1745.

The house displays paintings by Teniers and Snyders alongside family portraits that line the walls, reflecting the tastes and interests of those who lived here over many generations. These artworks shape the character of each room and offer glimpses into the lives of its residents.

The estate sits on private grounds between the A12 road and the North Sea coast, positioned south of Lowestoft in East Suffolk. Access is restricted as it remains a private residence, so plan any visit accordingly.

The library holds a notable collection of historical military paintings that feature Sir Thomas Gooch and document his involvement in founding the Yeomanry Cavalry Corps. These artworks provide insight into a significant chapter of local military history housed within the residence.
