St Andrew's Church, Covehithe, Medieval church ruins in Covehithe, England.

St Andrew's Church, Covehithe is a church with medieval ruins in Suffolk, England, with original walls from the fourteenth century still standing. Within these ancient walls sits a smaller thatched-roof structure from a later period that uses and shelters the ruins.

The original church building dated to the medieval period and was a substantial structure built to last through centuries. In 1672, the local community received approval to demolish the deteriorating structure and rebuild a more modest building from the salvaged stones.

The interior displays a medieval octagonal font carved with detailed lion figures that reflect the craftsmanship of that era. The wooden benches from the fifteenth century feature intricately carved decorative finials that show the skill of local artisans.

The site sits near the Suffolk coast and is accessible during daylight hours for visiting. The nearest railway station is in Lowestoft, about 7 miles away, making it straightforward to reach the church by public transportation.

The medieval walls now serve as protective barriers surrounding the newer building, shielding the ancient stones from weathering. This unusual arrangement shows how the community practically reused old structures rather than demolishing them entirely.
