St Andrew's Church, Covehithe

The remains of St Andrew's Church include a fourteenth-century tower and original walls surrounding a smaller thatched-roof structure built within the medieval ruins.

In 1672, the local community received permission to dismantle the original church and construct a more modest building using stones from the medieval structure.

The interior contains a medieval octagonal font with detailed carvings of lions, while the wooden benches from the fifteenth century display intricate poppyhead designs.

Located near the Suffolk coast, the church can be accessed during daylight hours, with the nearest railway station situated in Lowestoft, seven miles away.

The medieval walls now function as windbreaks around the seventeenth-century building, featuring decorative corbels and buttresses from the original construction period.
