Christ Church, Ellesmere Port, Gothic Revival church in Ellesmere Port, England.
Christ Church is a Gothic Revival sandstone building with a cruciform layout located in Ellesmere Port. It features a four-bay nave, chancel, transepts, vestry, and a south tower topped with a pyramidal spire.
The building was constructed between 1869 and 1871 by architects Penson and Ritchie. Later, western extensions were added from 1922 to 1925 under the direction of Barnish and Grayson.
The building served as a place of worship for the local Anglican community for generations and shaped the spiritual life of residents. Today it welcomes a different congregation that continues to gather within its walls.
The building is located in central Ellesmere Port and is accessible to visitors. The churchyard contains war graves from both World Wars, which should be visited with respect.
The interior preserves wooden roof trusses with decorative arches and a stone pulpit featuring marble columns from the original construction. These crafted details reveal the care taken in the building's design.
