Colmeallie stone circle, Stone circle in Glen Esk, Scotland

The stone circle contains three remaining stones from the outer circle and four smaller stones from an inner circle on a 15-meter diameter hill.

Local residents in 1853 informed antiquarian Andrew Jervise that the circle had been more complete before materials were taken for construction purposes.

The monument represents a specific type of recumbent stone circle, featuring a horizontal stone accompanied by two upright flanking stones within the formation.

The prehistoric site is located 8 kilometers north of Edzell Castle, accessible via an unclassified road connecting the B966 to Tarfside and Loch Lee.

Archaeological evidence indicates the presence of two concentric circles at this location, making it a rare example of this architectural configuration in Scotland.
