Glenesk Folk Museum, Folk museum and cultural center in Tarfside, Scotland
The Glenesk Folk Museum occupies a former shooting lodge called The Retreat, featuring exhibits on rural life and agricultural implements from past centuries.
Established in 1955 by schoolteacher Greta Michie, the museum transformed from a small collection into a comprehensive repository of local heritage with support from Lord Dalhousie.
The museum displays thematic collections of musical instruments, including a trapezoidal Savart-style violin and traditional costumes, alongside reconstructed Victorian-era rooms.
The museum opens daily from 10:00 to 17:00, providing facilities such as a gift shop, cafe, conference room, children's play area, and accessible amenities.
The Green Shed stables contain an extensive collection of 18th-century agricultural tools and traditional horse harnesses displayed in original cobbled stalls.
