Clifton Bridge, Road bridge in Nottingham, United Kingdom

Clifton Bridge spans the River Trent and connects western Nottingham via the A52 corridor with eight traffic lanes. The structure features dedicated pedestrian and cycling paths alongside the vehicle carriageways.

The bridge was built after World War II to support new housing developments and was opened by Princess Alexandra in 1958. At that time, it represented an important engineering achievement for the region's growth.

The bridge links residential neighborhoods with the city center and shapes how residents move through their daily lives. It serves as a vital connection that brings different parts of the city together for work, school, and leisure.

The bridge has clearly marked paths for pedestrians and cyclists that are separated from traffic lanes. Walking and cycling traffic tends to be heavier during morning and evening commute hours.

When completed in 1958, it was the longest pre-stressed concrete bridge in the United Kingdom. This engineering milestone marked a significant step forward in bridge construction technology of that era.
