Church of St Mary, Bishops Lydeard

The red sandstone church features a tall four-stage tower with battlements, pinnacles, and intricate Gothic tracery on its exterior walls.

The north arcade of the church dates to the 13th century, while the main structure was constructed around 1450 using local stone materials.

The 16th-century rood screen displays detailed carvings and the Apostles Creed in Latin text across its upper section.

The church building contains eight bells in its tower, though bell ringing activities are currently suspended due to structural concerns.

The wooden bench ends exhibit various carved designs including a pelican, a windmill, a sailing ship, and numerous botanical patterns.
