Concourse House, Former office tower at Lime Street, Liverpool, England
Concourse House was an office building at Lime Street in Liverpool with modernist architecture featuring clean lines and concrete construction across multiple floors. The structure provided workspace for various organizations and shaped the urban landscape next to the railway station.
Richard Seifert designed the building in the 1960s as part of Liverpool's post-war transformation. Its demolition in 2009 marked the end of that chapter in the city's development.
The building served as a canvas for the mechanical spider art installation La Princesse before its demolition in 2009.
The building no longer exists, but its former site is easily accessible from Lime Street Station and shows a different face today. The location is part of the redesigned gateway to the station that visitors and travelers pass through.
Before demolition, the building hosted the mechanical spider installation La Princesse, a large-scale art piece that garnered attention across Europe. This temporary art performance remains a memorable moment in the location's history.
