Derby QUAD encompasses three movie theaters, an art gallery, multiple artists' studios, and a café bar within its modern steel and glass structure.
The arts centre began operations on September 26, 2008, following the Derby council cabinet's selection of Feilden Clegg Bradley architects to design the building.

FORMAT International Photography Festival takes place at QUAD, presenting professional photography collections and media installations throughout the venue.
