Drill Hall, Military arts venue in Leith, Edinburgh, Scotland
The Drill Hall at 36 Dalmeny Street features studio spaces, exhibition areas, performance venues, and a licensed café within its substantial stone structure.
Built in 1901 as headquarters for the 5th Volunteer Battalion Royal Scots, the Drill Hall witnessed the mobilization of troops for World War I deployment to Gallipoli.
The building hosts numerous art exhibitions, performances, workshops, and seasonal markets, including the Edinburgh Festival Fringe and quarterly arts gatherings.
Located fifteen minutes from Waverley Station, the venue offers rental spaces for artists, creative businesses, rehearsals, and events throughout the year.
In 1915, the Drill Hall served as a temporary memorial space for 102 soldiers of the 7th Leith Battalion following the Gretna railway disaster.
