The O2 Arena, Indoor stadium in Greenwich Peninsula, England
The O2 Arena is a large indoor venue on the Thames waterfront, sheltered beneath a distinctive dome-like structure covered in white fabric. Inside, a flexible central space can be reconfigured depending on the event, surrounded by walkways, bars and multiple levels for spectators.
Originally built as the Millennium Dome for year 2000 celebrations, the structure stood empty for several years afterward. It was later converted into an entertainment venue, opening in 2007 and operating continuously since then.
Londoners gather here for concerts and sporting events that draw crowds from across the city, creating evenings where fans from different communities share the same excitement. These nights feel like collective moments when strangers become part of the same experience.
The venue sits directly beside an underground station, making arrival straightforward even on busy event nights. Restaurants, cafes and a cinema operate within the complex, so visitors can arrive early or stay after the main event.
The roof was assembled on the ground and then lifted into place because the height of the dome made crane work difficult. This technique allowed the entire structure to be positioned precisely without damaging the outer shell.
