Edgbaston Hall, Georgian country house in Edgbaston, England.
Edgbaston Hall is a Georgian country house set on elevated ground in Edgbaston, featuring three stories and a columned entrance porch. The grounds span 47 hectares and include a lake, golf course, and sections of woodland.
The Middlemore family owned the estate for over 300 years before Sir Richard Gough purchased it in 1717 and began major transformations. In the 1770s the landscape was redesigned following the vision of a prominent landscape architect of that era.
The park layout shows how 18th century gardens were designed with flowing paths and open lawns that guide movement through the grounds. Visitors today notice how the space between woodland and water shapes the landscape and invites walking.
The grounds today serve as home to Edgbaston Golf Club and feature a mix of lake, woodland, and open fields. Wear comfortable walking shoes as the terrain is hilly and paths wind through different landscape sections.
The grounds hold the brick ruins of Over Mill, a blade mill that operated since 1557. These historical remains stand near the large pool and remind visitors of the site's earlier industrial past.
