Firth Court, University building at Western Bank, Sheffield, United Kingdom.
The red-brick Firth Court houses administrative offices and research departments for molecular biology, biotechnology, and biomedical science at the University of Sheffield.
The construction of Firth Court finished in 1905 when King Edward VII and Queen Alexandra inaugurated this academic building named after Sheffield steel manufacturer Mark Firth.
The establishment of Firth Court in 1904 received financial support from local citizens, including steelworkers and coal miners who contributed over £50,000.
The building connects to multiple campus facilities through the Addison Building and contains up to ten floors dedicated to research and administrative functions.
During World War II, the quadrangle area of Firth Court transformed into an air raid shelter, serving the local population beyond its educational purpose.
