Evangelical Library, Christian lending library in London Borough of Haringey, United Kingdom
The Evangelical Library is a Christian library in North London holding more than 80,000 religious books and extensive collections of evangelical periodicals. The Robert Sheehan Puritan and Research Centre within its building provides specialized resources for ministers, students, and religious scholars.
Geoffrey Williams founded the institution in 1938 with support from Dr. Martyn Lloyd-Jones, originally naming it Beddington Free Grace Library in Surrey. After operating for several decades at Chiltern Street in central London, it relocated to North London in 2009.
The library serves as a gathering place for evangelical Christians and theologians who come to explore religious texts and scholarly works. It reflects Protestant teaching traditions and provides space for those interested in engaging with faith-based ideas.
The library hosts regular online lectures on Mondays from 1 pm to 2 pm covering topics in Protestant evangelical history and theology. Visitors should check ahead of time, as opening hours may be limited and online offerings should be verified in advance.
The collection includes not just books but also an extensive archive of evangelical periodicals that are rarely found together elsewhere. These publications document the evolution of evangelical thought and practice across many decades.
