Gosford Forest Park

Gosford Forest Park is a large woodland covering more than 200 hectares and features walking trails, mountain biking routes, play areas, and the historic Gosford Castle within its grounds. The site also includes dedicated zones for camping, picnicking, and horse riding along marked paths.

The site originated when the former estate was acquired by the Department of Agriculture in 1958 and later became Northern Ireland's first designated conservation forest. This transformation allowed the land to be restored and managed as a public woodland resource.

The park serves as a gathering place where visitors of different backgrounds and ages explore the woodland together. Local families and walkers make regular use of the open areas and shaded paths throughout the seasons.

The park offers different activities for various visitors, so choosing the right route or zone based on your interests is helpful. Good footwear is recommended as paths can become slippery in wet weather, and bringing a map or guide is useful.

The castle within the grounds served as a filming location for a well-known fantasy series, giving it additional significance in the entertainment industry. Beyond this, the park houses one of the region's largest collections of rare livestock breeds.
