Glasgow Sheriff Court, Sheriff courthouse in Gorbals, Glasgow, United Kingdom
The Glasgow Sheriff Court stands on Carlton Place along the River Clyde, featuring a three-story structure with large cut stone and Brutalist architectural elements.
Queen Elizabeth II inaugurated the Glasgow Sheriff Court on July 29, 1986, marking a new chapter in Scotland's judicial infrastructure development.
The building incorporates design elements influenced by Charles Rennie Mackintosh, including custom light fixtures, skylights, and specific interior details throughout the structure.
The courthouse contains departments for Civil, Criminal, and Commissary cases, with the Fines Department on ground level and Civil offices on the second floor.
In 2008, the court building received a 700-square-meter solar panel installation, generating 97 kilowatts of power for daily operations.
