The Gun Quarter is an industrial district north of Birmingham city center, located between Steelhouse Lane, Shadwell Street, and Loveday Street. Its buildings and workshops show the layout of a former manufacturing zone where craftspeople produced firearms in smaller operations.
In 1630, the first recorded gun maker opened operations in Birmingham, turning the city into a center for musket production. This industry grew over centuries and supplied weapons for English conflicts and military campaigns.
