The stadium opened in 1964 and has served as the home ground for Cumbernauld United Football Club since its founding. It has established itself as a key local sports venue over the following decades.

The stadium holds the record attendance of 2,200 spectators during a memorable match between Cumbernauld United and Pollok in 1983.
