Holy Trinity, Minories, London, Medieval church site in Tower Hamlets, England.
Holy Trinity, Minories was a church located at London's eastern boundary within the Liberties of the Tower of London. The building was destroyed during wartime, but the site remains as evidence of this religious community.
Edmund Crouchback founded a convent at this site in 1293 for the Spanish Order of Poor Ladies, later known as the Minoresses. Over the centuries, the location became a center for various religious movements and beliefs.
The church served as a refuge for religious minorities and attracted people seeking new forms of worship. It reflected the religious tensions of its era and played a notable role in reformed preaching traditions.
Access to the site may be restricted since it is an archaeological location in an urban area. It is advisable to check ahead for availability and any guided tour options before planning a visit.
In 1849, workers uncovered a mummified head in the church vaults that was believed to belong to Henry Grey, Duke of Suffolk. This discovery remained at the site for many decades before being removed in 1990.
