Hunsett Mill, Grade II listed tower mill in Stalham, Norfolk.
Hunsett Mill is a red brick drainage mill in Stalham, Norfolk, reaching about 12 meters in height with a white boat-shaped cap. It features four patent sails and a fantail that rotates the cap to face the wind.
William Rust built this drainage mill in 1860 on a site where a previous mill had stood. The construction reused a stone from 1698 that came from the earlier structure.
The mill represents Norfolk's industrial heritage as part of a water management network across the Broads. It shows how people engineered solutions to control flooding in this wetland region.
The adjacent millkeeper's cottage operates as holiday accommodation with five bedrooms for visitors. The space offers views over the River Ant and the surrounding countryside.
This mill had two scoop wheels mounted on opposite sides of the tower, a feature that set it apart from other drainage mills of its time. The dual-wheel arrangement allowed it to pump water more efficiently from both directions.
