Llanharan House, Georgian mansion in Llanharan, Wales
Llanharan House is a mansion with three stories in the central section and five bays, flanked by lower side wings set forward from the main block. The building sits on the eastern edge of the village near the A473 road, surrounded by gardens and grounds.
The house was built in 1750 by lawyer Rees Powell and has marked the village since then. In 1806, Richard Hoare Jenkins made significant changes, including a new staircase hall with geometric design.
The interior displays classical design details that visitors notice in the main rooms, such as decorated door frames and marble fireplaces. These elements show the refined taste of its former owners.
The building is easy to reach from the village since it sits near the main road. It is best to explore the exterior and grounds to understand the full layout of the property.
A remarkable feature is the Catholic chapel inside the house that the Williams family set up and used for over two centuries. It served as a private place of worship for the family until it closed in the early 2000s.
