London Gas Museum

The London Gas Museum occupied a 1905 gas works building, displaying historical gas equipment and industrial artifacts on Twelvetrees Crescent near the River Lea.

The museum gathered extensive collections from the Gas Light and Coke Company Surveyors Department and Brentford Gas Company, documenting London's gas infrastructure since 1893.

The institution maintained records of gas technology developments through maps, photographs, and publications that reflected changes in British domestic energy consumption patterns.

Before its closure in 1998, the museum transferred its collections to various institutions, with many items relocated to the Leicester Gas Museum.

The collection included unusual items such as gas-powered radios and detailed survey maps documenting the evolution of gas services across northern Thames properties.
