Three Mills Lock, Navigation lock in Tower Hamlets, England
Three Mills Lock is a navigation structure in the Prescott Channel of the River Lea Navigation system in Tower Hamlets. It allows boats to pass through different water levels and continue along the river.
The lock was built in the 1930s as part of improvements to the River Lea. At that time, the area was a major center for mills and manufacturing.
The lock forms part of East London's industrial heritage network, near the former Channel 4 Big Breakfast television production site.
A pedestrian bridge and cycle path provide easy access to the location and connect it to nearby routes. The area is straightforward to reach on foot or by bicycle.
During renovation work in 2009, an unexploded World War II bomb was discovered beneath the lock. Specialists had to safely detonate it before construction could resume.
