Meon Valley Trail

Meon Valley Trail, Bike path in Hampshire, England

The Meon Valley Trail is a bike path that stretches about 10 miles through Hampshire's countryside, connecting the village of Wickham with the town of Petersfield. The route runs on a flat, paved surface suitable for different types of bicycles and riders.

This path follows a former railway line that operated from the late 1800s until 1962. After the railway closed, the track was transformed into a recreational route and has since served as a popular destination for cyclists and walkers.

The path winds through several English villages where visitors can see local architecture, including St. John's Church from the 12th century in East Meon. The houses and settlements along the route reflect how people have lived in rural Hampshire for centuries.

Several entry points and parking areas along the route allow cyclists to plan shorter sections if needed. The surrounding villages offer shops and cafes where riders can take breaks and grab refreshments during their journey.

The route preserves old railway infrastructure such as historic bridges and viaducts that show how transport once worked here. These structures give cyclists interesting views and reveal the engineering of the railway era.
