Lots Ait, River island in Brentford, United Kingdom.
Lots Ait spans 1.724 acres in the Thames River near Brentford, featuring natural willows and former dock structures along its banks.
The island served as a grass cultivation site and barge repair yard until 1980, previously known as Barbel Island for its fishing resources.
The island gained recognition through its appearance in the film 'The African Queen' and an episode of 'George Clarke's Amazing Spaces' television series.
Access to Lots Ait is available through the Dahlia Bridge, constructed in 2012, or by crossing the mud bed during low tide from Brentford.
John's Boat Works reestablished boat-building operations on the island in 2011, reviving a tradition that had ceased for over three decades.
