Brentford Baths, Grade II listed public bath in Brentford, England
Brentford Baths is a red brick building located on Clifden Road, constructed with decorative arches and stone details typical of late Victorian public buildings. The structure was later approved for conversion to residential and live-work units.
The building was designed by architect Nowell Parr between 1895 and 1896 for the local council, with a foundation stone laid by area MP James Bigwood. It operated as a public bathing facility for nearly a century before closing in 1990.
The baths served as a community gathering place where local residents could access bathing facilities that were not always available at home. The divided sections for different groups shaped how people experienced and used the space.
The building is no longer accessible to visitors as a functioning bath house since its conversion to residential use. You can view the exterior and appreciate its architectural style from the street.
The interior pool area was used as the filming location for the Cyberdelia nightclub scenes in the 1995 film Hackers. This film connection makes it a notable spot for fans of that era of science fiction cinema.
