Millfield House, Grade II* listed building in Upper Edmonton, London Borough of Enfield, United Kingdom
Millfield House is a Grade II* listed house in the London Borough of Enfield with a curved stuccoed entrance porch featuring Doric columns and a stone canopied parapet. The stock brick construction includes iron-framed fanlight detailing above the main entrance.
The house was built in 1796 as a private residence before becoming a children's workhouse school in 1849. It later operated as a hospital for epilepsy patients until 1971.
The building has housed an arts center since 1979, offering classes in drama, dance, and visual art. The adjacent stage hosts performances throughout the year for the local community.
The location is accessible by public transportation with several bus routes nearby and a railway station within walking distance. Check opening times and event schedules in advance to plan your visit effectively.
Inside the oval stairwell sits a curved cantilevered staircase lit by a glass dome from above, creating an unexpected geometric feature. The curved doors along the walls align perfectly with this striking interior design element.
